I am a remarried mommy in which my ex-husband and I have a 3 year old son together. My son's father has been in the military the entire time until a month ago. I offered many opportunities for him to webcam our son, call our son, etc. and he made very little attempt to communicate and contact our son during his lifetime thus far. My ex was dishonorably discharged from the Marine Corps a month ago and has been living back in our hometown, near us. He has attempted to see our son every other weekend for hour visits and I recently found out that he (my ex) is in the sex offender database and I have no idea what the charges are (I'm trying to find out via the FOIA).

My question is this: My current husband just joined the U.S. Army and we'll obviously need to relocate to his duty station later this year. What do I need to do in order to relocate my son (child from first marriage) from FL to my husband's duty station (out of state) without jeopardizing custody rights I have, which are: primary residential custody and my ex and I have shared parental responsibility according to court orders as they stand right now.

You need to petition the court for a change in custody due to your pending move. You need to know where you're going and when. That information should be provided tobthe court at the hearing. Toucan try to do this yourself, or hire an attorney to do this fir you.

You can find out what your husband is in the sex offender database by looking him up on publicdata.com.
It will cost you $25 for 500 lookups on that service. Depending on what state he was convicted in, you can discover what his conviction was for by searching that state's sex offender database. You might be surprised if you Google his full name & DOB, too! The newspaper account of his escapades might appear before your very eyes!

Thanks for the info on the relocation. My ex-husband was court-martialed in the military overseas and our state of FL has no record of his charges as of yet; howver, I did find out about it via the FDLE's website, not even our local area site. We have contacted JAG and are trying to figure out charges via them. We have tried googling his name and nothing. I'll try the website you mentioned.
