Basically my mother entered a violent relationship about three years ago, she married him & she has been hospitalized several times, neither of them care about anyone but themselves.
He is a violent alcoholic with anger management issues & this has rubbed off on my mother who i think is a manic depressive acoholic. I currently have my own flat and am 18 (19 in july) my younger sister (15) lives with my aunt. She also had a baby with him who is 13 months. She drank throughout her pregnancy & she is pregnant again.
Today i found out that she overdosed on pills & alcohol for the 4th time in less than 3years & social services are involved, therefore want to take my 13 month old sister into care.
Basically my question is...because both parents are unfit i.e. Alcoholics with mental issues, could i apply for custody of my younger sister, even if i am on benefits with a part time job in a privately rented flat? if so how would i go about doing this?
