i have a restauranr i haired a contractor to install sprinkler system for my reataurant. after 6 month later i got many phone call from sprinkler company said the payment did not pay . But i did pay my cotractor full payment already. but they said didnot get anything cannot find the contractor so i need to pay and the sprinkler company going to sue me , i will go to jall is it ture? even i wasn't the person call them to do the job and i did not sign any pay agreenemt. i can not find my contractor eighter . i really need to pay or i can file "death letter" they call many time every day.they drive me crazy.

You need to keep the proof where you paid the contractor.
Tell the people that are trying to collect that you paid the contractor.
Tell them you can send them proof of payment.

No, you can't be put in jail because someone alleges you owe a debt.
Tell them to stop calling and harassing you.
Then hire a lawyer.
You might already have a lawyer for your restaurant.
Speak with that lawyer about this harassment.
