We filed for contempt of court as well as change of parental rights/custody at the same time. We thought the hearing would be about the more serious issue at hand which is the contempt of court charge; but the paperwork we received in the mail doesn't reflect that - only the motion to change custody. When we viewed the case online it said 'Visitation enforcement' under case status and indicates motion for change of parental rights as what we filed and nothing about the contempt of court charge. Is it possible that she received the contempt of court notice in her papers and not ours because, obviously, we filed to begin with? Is it possible that both the contempt of court charge AND the motion for parental rights will addressed at this first hearing?

I am not sure, but it does sound like they may just handle both in that hearing. Even if she wasn't served with the contempt papers, the Judge could see the docket you filed and make a decision to handle that in the same hearing so you wouldnt have to come back into court on a seperate date.
