I worked for a collection agency in Tampa, FL.
I was paid a salary of $3000.00 a month plus comissions. All commissions were paid at the beginning of the next month based on performance. I was paid in the beginning of may for aprils collections. Because it is a collection agency and we take payments over the phone they bounce. Several checks were returned and they fired me. They stated that they would not pay my final check because my checks from a previos month were bouncing. I had worked for this company for over a year and had bounced checks before (every single month). They NEVER made me "repay" or sign anything saying they would be able to deduct previous months bonus paid from my regular pay check. Is it legal for them to withhold my last check for time worked up til the day i was fired? Or are they required to pay me for time worked? Thanks for any help.
