Cigarettes on the internet

have any laws come about yet on buying cigarettes on the internet. im in NY and they are killing us out here at 7.50 a pack. however im a little worried about purchasing them over the internet. i have found sites that are chargining less than 20 a carton, why should i pay 7.50 a pack. can they track these purchase, if they are coming from different countries outside the US?

That's been the whole uproar in NY against the tax. My understanding is that you can purchase but not resell the cigarettes. It's the same problem that NY had with NJ not charging sales tax for clothing priced at under $100. As a result, NY dropped the sales tax for clothing so as not to lose out sales to NJ... hard lesson to learn again.
