MY daughters father lives in florida and we were never married. He started giving my daughter child support at the age of 10(nothing prior) $500.00 a month and after 3-4 years stopped due to an ugly email I sent his wife regarding her contacting my daughter. I decided to take him to court to get child support. Only after he was supeoned, did he start sending $200.00 a month. I have not cashed these checks because i want it to go through our local child enforcement units. I live in NY and he lives in FLA. My daughter is now 16. I am awaiting a court date.
1) is it true the courts in florida will state she cannot collect any child support after the age of 18? in NY its 21.
2)if i cash his check, will that mean i am accepting the $200.00 a month?
3)is it true that i am not allowed to be present in florida for the case?
