My 15-Month-Old daughter passed away on April 1st after being in the hospital for 5 days. Her death was ruled a homicide and on that day she spent the beginning part of the day with a babysitter. I also have a 3 year old daughter of which social services took from me and placed with a "foster mother" who happens to be her grandmother (I have been trying to divorce my 'husband' for two and half years after he abandoned us) who has made it extremely clear that she does not care about my daughter or how she feels and is simply keeping her as an act of revenge. The police questioned me once over a month and a half ago and have done nothing since and social services has made it clear to me that they plan on keeping her indefinately even though I have not done anything and I have always been a good mother to my children and they have made no attempt to ask her school or at-home nurse any questions about her homelife -- What can I do????? Every time I get to visit my daughter she tells me about all these things that they say to her about me (that I'm a bad person, I need to go to jail, I'm not the boss anymore - ha ha???), she wears clothes that don't fit her, he hair and fingernails are not taken care of, she's not being taken to her doctors and denist visits, and just yesterday they instructed my to not tell her that she would ever be coming home with me. Help Please!!!!!!

Has CPS given you any sort of case plan on getting your daughter back? I am really sorry to hear about the death of your daughter. When a child is killed by a caregiver, or a boyfriend, etc.. mothers and parents are often held responsible for not protecting their kids, especially in cases where the mother should have noticed signs of abuse and neglect.

I do not know the facts of your case but CPS will generally place the child with family before foster care. Where is her father? Has he not expressed any concern in temporary custody?

Is the babysitter being charged here?

Do you have an attorney?

That day was the first time that she had ever watched the kids.

Her father told the court that he did not want to take her and besides that first court hearing they have made no plan for another court date and gave me a visitation schedule for supervised visitation that dates months from now.

The babysitter has not been charged, we have not been charged and the sheriffs office has made the indication that there is no longer an active investigation --- They're not even doing their jobs!!!!!!!!!

No only kind of attorney that I have is the public defender who covers two counties and does not seem to have the time to help me whatsoever, and since I am not made of money I have been selling everything that I have to get enough money to get one,,,but do you have any suggestions on what I could do in the meantime?
