My boyfriend just turned 18, he was 17 and working at an oil plant for 5 months. They knew he was only 17 at the time and said it was close enough to his birthday and hired him anyways. He got hurt on the job (his boss hit the ladder he was on with the kabota and knocked him off and he fell 4 feet and hit his head on a big pipe) and they told him that if he filed a claim that he would lose his job and we coulnd't afford that so he said that he got hurt at home when we had to go to the emergency room because it was hurting him so bad and they agreed to pay all the medical expenses. Of course nothing was put into writing and now they are going back on their word and we're stuck with a huge medical bill. Since he was only 17 at the time, when we went to the ER they made him put him dad as a signer just in case the bill didn't get paid. He got "fired", with no reason given and he filed at TX Workforce. We then found out that no where does it show that he ever worked at that plant, but we have all the pay check stubs to prove it. They have been taking taxes out of his check the whole 5 months he was been working there, and it has all been going into their pockets. We don't even know where to begin with all of this and I really need some legal advice. Would child labor laws be a good idea to get involved in this issue?

Thanks.
