My husband and I are high school sweethearts. We had our daughter in 1999 however we had broken up 6 months into my pregnancy. When it came time to do the birth certificate I put my maiden name (as we were not married at the time) and he is not listed on the birth certificate. Fast forward to 2008. We got married in February 2008. Our daughters last name is still listed as my maiden name. Is there a way to change her last name over to ours inexspensive/easily? Is this something that has to be done with a lawyer? Or is there a way that all 3 of us can go and fill out some paper work for the name change request?
