I am a professional dog groomer and work for a large, upscale boarding kennel. There is myself and one other groomer at this location and there are other locations in the state as well. I was informed by my manager this morning that as of now, we (groomers) are now responsible for paying our own vet bills. If there is an accident and a dog gets cut or knicked, the company used to cover the vet bill, but now we have to pay them out of our pockets. She said that since we are self-employed they are tired of paying for them and we should pay them ourselves. BUT, I am not self-employed... I was hired by them and am paid by commission through them. I set my own hours and prices, but that's it. I still get my W2 through them, etc. So, my question is, are there any laws concerning this?
Thanks!
