Hello everyone. Well I am employed by a casino and I work in the food and beverage department as a supervisor... now I have learned from my food and beverage director that giving "Tips" To kitchen cooks/grill staff from servers (food servers) Is ilegal?


But there are more casinos around and ex employees from those casinos that comes to work to our casino complain and resigns.


Is it Iegal to give tips or ilegal?

It really doesn't matter. If your boss doesn't want to pool the tips, then your boss doesn't have to pool the tips.

There is also California law on the matter...and the fact that this concerns a Tribal casino may come into play as well.

Is your "food and beverage director" your supervisor? If so, whether it is or isn't legal doesn't really matter. Presumably, he/she is your boss and is telling you that the tips given to the servers should not be shared with the kitchen cooks/grill staff.
