I am from Asia and have been coming to the US in the last 2 yrs for studies and business, practically spending 20 out of 24 months in New York. I only had a tourist visa (B1/B2) in all that time. Is it possible for me to serve my husband (in Asia) divorce papers from NY? We were married outside the US, but he became abusive that's why I left him. I know there is a 2-year residency required for NY, but how is residency proved? Can I show school registration records? Utility bills?
