Can the head of a corporation file for unemployment compensation? There haven't been any new calls for the type of work I do so far this year. I haven't collected a pay check since the first of December and I don't want to shut everything down, the community I service has high income earners but no work coming in. I am hoping things will pick up in the spring and I can resume my income but for now I am willing to apply for work elsewhere.

Has the corporation been making contributions on you as an employee to the state UI commission every quarter?

Yes. I also have 3 employees that need to be paid for whatever small jobs we can muster, therefore i cannot take a pay check for myself. It's been a month.

You can certainly file. The problem I see is that the state will deem your forgoing paychecks as indicative not of an employee first, but as an owner first. One of the drawbacks of being in business for yourself.
