The business I worked for closed it's doors June 16, 2010 and all 7 employees were not paid their final check up to that date. The owner has the checks, but there is no money to cover them. He was going to file bankruptcy, and now has decided not to. He is considering reopening the business or possibly selling it. Of course the employees are not the only ones waiting to be paid; utilities, credit card companies, etc are waiting as well. How can I and the other employees get paid? Is there a way of being put on a waiting list or filing with some labor board? Or is our last week and a half of work done for free?
