NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC/Gray News) — A clothing company based in North Charleston, South Carolina, has been ordered to pay Buc-ee's $850,000 for trademark infringement.

The famous gas station brand out of Texas filed the federal lawsuit against Born United, which specializes in selling clothes and merchandise bearing patriotic themes and slogans, in June 2025 due to the company's use of the famous Buc-ee's beaver mascot on their clothing.

Clearly the company didn't consult an attorney before ripping off Buc-EE's likeness. They made no real attempt to change it enough so it would fly under the radar. They didn't learn the first lesson in business school: pay the lawyer a little today or pay the lawyer a whole lot more tomorrow. :D
