I was hired to run a specific construction project by a general contractor. After the first phase was complete, the project was delayed. I was asked by the contractor to wait and begin again in 2-3 months. I waited and began work again. After 2 weeks I was called by the owner and was told that I was being layed off. I am out of about $26,000.00 in lost wages had I completed the project. I am wanting to know if I could possibly have a valid legal complaint. Although I had nothing in writing, I understand that Florida has a gentlemans agreement law.

During this same period I was paid salary. I coordinated subcontractors during construction. I had no company employees under me. I have a great deal of overtime that I was not paid for. I have read parts of the labor law and am confused. I am tryin to find out if I may also have a valid legal complaint in this matter.

Than You for you help.
