She said she is 16, running away from home Lol, and has mental issues, she wants to live with me, she seems to be in a rush to move out of her nice apartment with her mom. I asked if she worked it out with her mom. It doesn't seem like they are a cop the way she has talked. She is cute from her pictures.

I live in subsidized housing and just don't want to be kicked out or worse if she moves in with me

    Unless she is jail bait?

Ignore this person and cease all contact.

I am asking the following with all seriousness and not to be insulting:

    Are you mentally impaired?

I have no idea. If you believe that a child is in danger, then you should report it to the authorities. In any case, you should cease contact.

Stop right there. That information alone should tell you to stay away from this girl. If you invite a teen with mental issues to live with you are also inviting lots of problems into your home. So even if her story is true, her story should be enough to put up lots of red flags for you. Getting kicked out your subsidized housing is one possibility if she proves to be a problem living there.

Making a decision about any woman or girl because she is "cute" is how a lot of men make bad decisions. Being cute can distract you from all the problems she has. Once the fun of being with someone cute wears off, you're left dealing with all the problems. Bear this in mind, having sex with a 16 year-old is illegal in Illinois, and should she accuse you of that you could have huge legal problems. That's one reason why you don't want to have a minor living with you. The other is that any contract you make with her may be voidable by her, leaving you stuck without being able to enforce her end of any deal.

Forget cute. She sounds like a mess. Teens running away from home are problems for anyone taking them in other than, perhaps, other family members. Have nothing more to do with her.

Based on the fact that you're even asking this question, I can only assume that you are a teenager, too. Because no sane, mentally competent adult would even entertain this idea for a second, regardless of how "cute" she is. And since you MUST be a teen (or even younger), how do you think you're going to convince your Mommy to let this stranger move in with you?

But let's pretend for a moment that you're an adult of sound mind. What makes you think this is a good idea? Are you okay with sex offender charges when this inevitably goes wrong? Losing your subsidized housing will be the least of your worries.

It would be miles beyond stupid to allow a 16 year old runaway to move in with you.

There is ONLY one way for you to know for sure.

That is, if you want to know for sure.

Many times knowing for sure is fraught with great risks.

Most of the time, we already KNOW, so knowing for sure is RARELY worth the risks.

Despite your use of a question mark, this sentence is not a question.

"Jail bait" generally refers to a person (typically a teenage girl) who is under the "age of consent."

I'm not really sure what you're asking, but getting involved with a 16yo girl who claims to have "mental issues" and who is running away from home would be a moronic thing to do.

Maybe she's from the planet Fronombulax!

Must be a risky chic Lol

I'm surprised Avvo attorneys couldn't answer a simple question and made it seem criminal lol, its not criminal to ask a question.

It's not the question that's criminal, it's the action that would be criminal.
