Married almost 9 years, my decision to divorce due to verbal & emotional abuse & alienation. We agreed on splitting all assets, however he has now brought up vehicles.
Question is:
I have 2002 vehicle which is paid for. He has 2007 vehicle which is not.
He is now saying that he expects me to pay for 1/2 of his vehicle since he paid for 1/2 of mine during the marriage.
ALSO saying that I have to pay him 1/2 the blue book value of my 2002 vehicle! Is that legal? Just say we earned the same amt during the marriage (which we didn't i earned more most years) - we both paid for my vehicle and I get to keep it. If I pay for 1/2 of his newer vehicle and he get's to keep it why would I have to pay him for 1/2 of my vehicle also.
This just doesn't make sense to me and I need to know my legal rights. I want to get it done & not fight so I can move on, but I am not going to pay for something that I don't think is fair. Please let me know if this is legal in the state of Texas.
