our 14yr old son was with a couple other boys while at his mothers visit week, and they were charged as juvenile misdemeanor distruction of property. The other 2 boys did make statements to police that our 14yr old son didn't do what they were and our son was in the road and really didn't see them. This was also made known at first court hearing earlier this month. He has never been in trouble been on high honors and takes advance courses since middle school and now in 1st yr of high school.
Are we required to have an attorney present at court in October? it is Stephenson County il. As the da has already stated what the plea would be for him to us... So ARe we REquired by any laws to have an attorney for our son?

thank you please email me and let us know soon please and thank you very much for your time.

If I were you, I would want to talk to an attorney. An attorney can discuss various options with you/your child & maybe even get the case dismissed.
