I have a grandson that would like to live with us (his grandparents). In Iowa is there an age that would help the judge to decide if he could live with us?

Not with the grandparents. Where is mom and dad? A court is not going to allow a child to live with a 3rd party without the parents permission. Do you have any type of court visitation or custody now?

Neither work and have several children. Step-dad has been in legal trouble several times. Other kids are in and out of detention for the last couple of years and we are afraid this will have an effect on our grandson.

I have seen bad things happen with Child Services I don't want them to take him away. I think I will start with an attorney. Just thought maybe someone else is going through what I am.

They have and we made same suggestion. Just because there are very few mistakes by CPS, which of course get all the attention, does not mean that is norm. You want them away based on your post anyhow. As relatives you can seek custody if CPS does indeed think they should be removed. In fact CPS would rather place a child(ren) with a relative than over crowded foster care. This isnt about your desires its about the child(rens) safety:yes:
