I was detained by National Park Police for 30 minutes for a bogus crime. Can I sue for damages?

I'll bite, in your words, what was this bogus crime?

Before you answer, the police (and other law enforcement personnel) have the right to detain you for a reasonable amount of time (30 minutes isn't unreasonable), if they are actively seeking a robbery suspect, a rape suspect, and you match the description of the suspect.

It (30 minutes) would not be unreasonable if you brought to the attention of the police under suspicious or dubious circumstances.

Now, proceed, if you ave something different to add!

No. Bogus or not, an officer is allowed to detain someone while investigating a crime. The officer apparently determined there was no crime, or there was not enough evidence to justify an arrest, and let you go. It happens every single day and is perfectly legal.

Heck, the police can detain people a heck of a lot longer than that depending on the circumstances.

I would be interested to know why the OP considers his detention unlawful in some way.
