My son has signed birth certificates of two children. The mother of the children attempted to get an restraining order so that my son could not see the children. The restraining order was dismissed by a judge. The judge said that since my son and the mother were never married that in order for him to have parental rights he woulod need to be adjudicated as the childrens father. Does anybody know if since he has signed the birth certificates if he needs to do anything else.

I am wondering if maybe you misunderstood what the judge told you.
If he is listed on the certificate as the father then he pretty much has parental rights.
Any custody/visitation issues will need to be resolved through the family court, just as if they had been married and then separated.

Does the mother dispute that he is the father?

I just looked at that site again. if you scroll down a little it will give links of pamphlets saying exactly what he needs to do.
