Texas Property Mineral Rights

Dear TLF,

How can I find out if I and my wife own the mineral rights to our property in Tarrant County, Texas, 76002? We received some documentation in the mail last week regarding the leasing of our land from an oil/gas company out of Ft. Worth.

We want to be sure we are the mineral owners and be sure of our rights before we proceed with any communication w/this company as far as drilling/digging, etc. might commence.

Go to a title insurance company that does business in your county. Have them run a title report.


An easier, cheaper, but less reliable way is to ask the tax collector in your county who pays the taxes on the mineral rights on your land.
