phone and internet harrassment and blackmail

I need to know what can be done if anything about a person in another state who is harrassing and blackmailing me over the internet and on the phone. I stupidly met someone online and getgan a relationship. After a time we began seeing eachother on webcams, weve never met but everyday talk online or on the phone. After about a year i began to want to be with someone else but when he found out he began threatning to show pictures he has of me from the webcam to my family, co-workers, and friends. Im trying not to involve any of those people so I did what he wanted and continued the online relationship and I have been for the past 2 years. Whenever I begin to upset or make him mad he will begin to harrass me again until I "get back inline" Recently hes started to get worse and then told me hes made a video and if I didnt do something to make him happy again he would "call his guys to pass out the video" telling me my family would see it and my co-workers. Im not sure exactly what all is on the video I just know parts of it could be sexual. Again I dont want to involve my family or anyone else close to me and i was wondering what could be done if anything and what would happen to him if he was punished for this.

Take records of his threats to cops, save them on your computer. The cops in his state will most likely knock on his door and take his computer and anything he has on you as evidence. They will be discreet. Besides if he's that big of a lowlife he probably already put it on a pornsite, so you only have more to loose by waiting and giving him more sexual stuff to use against you.

Thanks for the advice. im going to the police station tonight to talk to someone. Im just nervous that after I do this he might come after me, my family or my friends....

That's why you should get a restraining order. . .

and never give in to blackmail. Once you do, it just gets worse.
