non signed adoption

My son's mom said she could not find me, they posted ads in papers, and since I did not see them or respond they took away my rights in March of 1996, and let her new husband adopt my son. Yet I have and still pay child support. My question to that is why if he was LEGALLY adopted ? I am glad I have found my son again but need this issue resolved and I appreciate your help.

Are you paying child support through the state or directly to mom?

How old is your son?

Are you paying off child support arrears? Or are you paying CURRENT support?

There is a difference.

It is deducted out of every paycheck ordered by the state and he is now 25 years old.

Child support has been deducted out of my check sometimes more than others for income that I was making at the time. But he was adopted at ten years old, Yet I'm still paying.
