I have a 28 year old daughter who lives with me. She is on disability for obsessive compulsive disorder. Her ability to function in society independantly is extremely limited. She has never married and has no children. I am worried about what would happen in the event of a medical emergency or crisis situation. Can I become her legal guardian so that I would have input on her medical or psychiatric care? She would be agreeable to this.

If it worries you, you could try.

Her disability may not be one that would require a guardian.

You could get medical power of attorney in case she is incapacitated.
