My landlord/roommate wants to paint my room that I just moved into several weeks ago. The color he wants is very dark and it is a small room. Needless to say I don't want him to paint, but he says he needs to do it so that the house looks the same. There's nothing in the lease about him entering the room except for inspection and repair upon reasonable notice. He's also doing the trim which I've agreed to. Do I have to let him paint?

Propose to him that you will incurr the cost of hiring a professional painter and the cost of the paint so the job can get done when you move out. Now, if you don't want to incurr those, then, you will have to let him paint. I am sure there is a clause somewhere in the lease agreement stating that he can perform any needed repairs and maintenance to the property once he gives the tenant proper notice. Hope this helps!
