Is it legal for a school to have people in the main building while there is demolition happening on the main building? 30% of the structure will be torn down while class is in session beraly 15 feet away. There is also conformation that there is asbestos in the area being demolished.

Probably legal.

Might not be dangerous if precautions are taken.

Certainly unwise, and something the parents should be addressing with the school administrators. The more parents that get involved, the more likely that a resolution could be obtained.

I would have thought there would at lest be some kind of osha regulation against having kids that close to demolition. It's a very poor area and the likely hood of proper precautions is low.

Parents should still be getting together to talk to the school's administrators.

There are plenty of asbestos abatement laws that control both the need for it and the procedures that have to be followed for safe removal from the Federal government, the state governments, and county governments.

Just Google asbestos abatement laws in your state.

If the area is properly isolated, then there won't be a problem.
