I received a call from an attorney this morning and he left a message on my phone about a debt. Before I had a chance to return his call, my sister in law called to inform me that he called her house looking to speak my my brother in law regarding my husband and I. About an hour later, my grandfater called to tell me the same thing. I live in florida and so does my sister in law, but my grandfater lives all the way in Idaho. Is it even legal for him to be calling my family members harrassing them about this situtation?

The FDCPA spells out limitations as to who, when and why a collection agency can contact third parties (usually only to determine your location). They can only "talk the debt" to your spouse or your attorney. Your state may have laws that place more restrictions on their activities.
