Is there an abandonment law in MN?
I have a 5 month old that her father has made no attempt to see. I am looking into adopting her out to a good family who can take care of her, but I am afraid of the father fighting it, even though he has not signed a paternity affidavit, and is not on birth certificate. what can I do? I want the best for her, and he is not it.

Paternity will have to be established, and his rights will have to be terminated. There is no way around it. If you do not properly terminate the fathers rights, he can always come back and dispute the adoption.

Since you are not able to take care of the child, why dont you communicate with the father and his family to see if they would take custody?

You can start the adoption process but just be advised, you likely are going to have to identify who the father is eventually.

By the way, if paternity was never established, there is no abandonment.

Please look at all your legal options to ensure your baby is looked after.
