a friend of mine put some software on my external hard drive. I never used it or installed it on my computer, the software programs just sat there untouched. One day I decided to look at what it was and some of it seemed questionable, as in it might be pirated, so I went ahead and deleted it all. So my question is, would I still be able to get into trouble if law enforcement looked on my hard drive and used data recovery and found the deleted files of the software and it wound up being pirated? One other question, am I legaly allowed to posess mp3s that I got from friends as long as I'm not sharing them and can I legally transfer my own store bought cds and dvds to mp3 and digital format to use on my mp3 player? Thanks

A: I would think that the data recovery software would also show whether the software had been used; if it has not been used, then I wouldn't worry.
