Thank you for this forum!!
If anyone has advice on this question I would appreciate the help.
My step father and mother were married for 25 years.
My mother died 3 months ago. Then my step father died just two days ago.
My step father had no biological children.
My step father didnt have a trust, just a simple statutory will that left everything to us step kids.
My step father had a large IRA and a large Pension.
My on the IRA and Pension my step father named distant relatives of his as the beneficiaries (before he met our mother)
Question: Under California law; as direct descendants of our mother who was married to our step father for 25 years - are we entitled to any of those assets?
