Insurance Settlement amount not enough?

I was in an accident last November. I was rear-ended and it was determined to be the other person's fault.

It wasn't severely hurt. Just a few bruises, that's it.

During that time, I worked retail for the first time. When I initially had partial numbness in my foot, I thought it was because it was because I was on my feet all day. But when I found another job and it didn't go away, I began to suspect that it may have been caused by the accident.

I went to a podiatrist to confirm this and he believe that the injury may be related to the accident. However, there's no way to prove definitively either way.

The insurance company believes that my heal spurs may have caused the numbness. My argument back to them is that my heal only started to feel numb AFTER the accident, not before.

At this point, I'm ready to settle. All medical bills total to $1500, $750 of which is relating to my foot. So the insurance company wants to settle at $1000.

I don't think this is enough and countered with $1200.

What are my options? Am I asking for too much?

Thanks!
