SARASOTA, Fla. — Lt. Col George Hardy was one of the first Black aviators in combat during WWII.

Lt. Col. George Hardy of Sarasota, one of the last surviving Tuskegee Airmen, passed to glory at 100 Years old.

According to the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. National Office, Lt. Col. Hardy was "the youngest Red Tail fighter pilot at 19 to fly his first combat sortie over Europe."
He flew 21 combat missions during WWII, and also served in the Korean and Vietnam wars.

He passed away on Thursday, 25 SEP 25.

Heroes, all of them.
And trailblazers too. They proved wrong those who thought that Black people were incapable of doing that kind of work and were willing to put their lives on the line to protect a country that at the time treated them, at best, as second class citizens. Their contributions are, IMO, rightfully celebrated and should not be forgotten.
