Wrongful Termination and Conflict of Interest

I was recently recruited by a job placement specialist after he found my resume online. I managed to make it to an interview and was given a great offer for the position. After some extremely hard sale tactics and badgering, I turned the offer down to stay at the company where I had been for 2 years.
Displeased, I'm sure, by the loss of a commission, the head-hunter contacted the CEO at my present company to offer his condolences and his services in order to fill the position I had no intention of leaving. He went so far as to name me and the other company, even though I was very clear that my present company had no idea, and there was no guarantee I would take the job. After 2 years of loyalty, I was given a better offer and refused it. After this, and my conversation with the CEO, there was a marked difference in how I was treated. Suddenly MY loyalty was called into question. My emails got no positive responses or were lost. My resolutions, suggestions, and timetables fell on deaf ears (which in engineering is equal to death). I was passed up for projects, reviews, raises and was ultimately fired this week.

Shouldn't I have the right to improve my situation without fear of retribution?

I know AZ is a "Right to Work" state, but is there any recourse with my former company?
More importantly, what is my recourse for going after the Job placement company or more specifically the recruiter?
This guy's job description is to place people in jobs that they will be happy with, and due to his actions, I am now out of work. Of course now that I have turned down the other job, I am without any immediate options.
At the very least, hasn't he broken a verbal or implied contract?
I would never hire a real estate agent if I knew I would be evicted from my current home for it.

How can I prevent this immoral and unethical tactic from happening to some other sucker? This guy has to be stopped.

Thanks in advance for any advice,

P.S.
There was no text box option for Venue even though I am registered.
This is Phoenix, AZ Maricopa County
