i live in missouri and i work retail. at my job my boss tells us we are not allowed to leave until she says we can, even though we are scheduled to leave at a certain time. can she legally fire us for leaving at our scheduled time to leave?
Yes, she can. In the absence of a bona fide contract that specifically says otherwise, mandatory overtime is legal in all 50 states. If the boss says you have to stay late, you have to stay late, and you can be fired if you refuse.
