    Hi there.

I am an international student here on an F-1 Visa. I have applied for Optional practical Training (OPT) which was approved but the permit was lost in mail.
I have reapplied for the same thing, but while the application gets processed, I was wondering if I could work for an NGO keeping in mind that currently I do not have any work permit.:angel

If you are just volunteering and working for no pay, the NGO should list you and officially accept you in writing as a non paid volunteer. You can’t work with your OPT if it is not in the area of your studies. Don’t work without your work permit at hand…………unless immigration gives you some letter permitting you to work while waiting in your area of study…………….

    Thanks a lot.

I was thinking of working without pay.
It's boring to sit at home and do nothing...!!!:)
    Thanks for the advice though...
