Did they only mention your tint being too dark? What did they do/say? Did they search your car or anything? Did you get a ticket? Do you have any more details?

If your tint isn't in compliance with VA law, the car was stopped to further investigate and to warn the driver (or issue a traffic citation).

Forget that TV lawyer stuff, or probable cause in the street.
