Okies, my turn...
A year or two ago (under a previous username) I found this forum while bored and Google'ing (no offence, "thelawprofessor!!") make a couple of contributions, nothing more.
Then found myself working in an industry that involved investigating traffic accidents and making representations to Judges on behalf of clients (enjoyed that
) and became increasingly interested in the topic of law. Recently beeing spending more time here reading and trying to help where I can.
Unfortunately, a large part of the flowing/growing community here is American and in need of help regarding US law which is where I came to a halt as being British, my knowledge of US law is very limited!!

I came here again today because of a landlord problem. LOTS has changed from when I came here a long time ago. REALLY NICE! A while ago I had a domain problem. Some jerk tried to get traffic from our trademark. They helped me out a lot. We got the domain because of it. Good information here and it looks like people care about law and really share. It is addictive.

My son became involved in trouble with the police and I couldn't get any information. So, I started surfing the web and found this place. My initial post didn't get answered though, so that was sad for me. I have posted another and it was answered right away and helped a lot. It's amazing reading the stories and how much police officers bend the law more often than not. Especially with arrests, searches, and seizures which is what happened with my son. His cases were dismissed but now he'll have an arrest record which affects his employability. Police Officers really need to be more careful and thoughtful and not just arrest people for little or nothing because they can ruin those people's lives. Mere suspicion shouldn't be enough for searches or arrest and I think our laws need to be more clear about what constitutes reasonable cause. Also, Police Officers should not be allowed to coerce permission for searches...a warrent should be issued each and every time for non-life threatening situations such as this kid has red eyes, let's threaten him with felony jail time when he says no to a search of his car or apartment, and tell him that he'll have to wait here all night in the cold without a coat or gloves, or bathroom breaks until the warrent comes. Sorry, got off on a tangent, but I love this sight, I have learned a lot. Thanks you to the people responsible.
