My jurisdiction is: Illinois
I live in Illinois and I have a eleven year old boy who I have physical custody of. His mother has physical custody of our daughter. My son and I moved away five years ago, one year after the divorce. His mother now wants to challenge me in court for sole custody of him. My question is, in what county would the proceedings be held? I have been told that court would be held in the county of where the child resides but then again I have also been told court would be held in the county of where we were divorced. We live 300 miles from each other. Please let me know if you have any information on this issue or if you know for a fact where court would be held. Thank you
