When Can Minor Sit In Front Seat (2 Seater Car)

Hello,

Looking to buy a car.

In IL I wanted to know what the law was for a minor to sit in the front seat?

I am asking because a couple of the compact cars I am looking at dont have a backseat.

So front seat sitting is the only option.

My child is 9 years old and already 4 foot 8.
My child weights about 95 pounds.

So I am not sure it its based on Age, height, weight ect?

I think your 9 year old would be fine in the front seat with regular seatbelts.

This is pretty easy to google. The law doesn't say anything about front seat versus back seat. The Illinois Child Passenger Protection Act requires that a child under the age of 8 be secured in an appropriate child restraint system.
