Daughter was assaulted (attempted strangulation) by roommate in Chicago IL. The attacker was arrested and taken away by police and daughter taken by ambulance to hospital. I'm assuming the state's prosecuter will handle the criminal end but what kind of lawyer do I need to retain (Personal Injury, Family Law, etc. there are so many types) to get the medical bills paid for the assault injuries and possibly break the lease so daughter won't have to live with the attacker.
