I live in California. A friend was charge with grand theft auto sometime ago. He now wishes to have that remove and is contacting a lawyer. However, he wants us (his friends) to write him a reference (recommendation) letter to help him to try to dismiss his crime. He had already done his time in jail and other services.
I have known this friend for a long time since high school. this was the only crime he had ever been convicted of, well beside one fishing violation.
My question is: if I write this letter to help my friend, what key points are need in the letter. What format should I use and whom should I address this letter to?
I would really be glad if someone can direct me to find some samples on the internet.
