Our son, J who is 19, recently had a baby with his girlfriend, A who is 17. J has graduated from high school, is in the Army National Guard and works a full-time job. A is still in high school and for obvious reason still lives at home.
A is going thru post-partum depression, is taking medication but does not want anything to do with the baby. I myself have talked with her where she stated that at times she wants to "squeeze the babys head when he cries", or sometimes she wants to "stab J in the throat". I have talked with A's mother concerning this and her response was "I wish A would just get over it because I'm tired of her moodyness".
Our son, J, has asked to have the baby temporarily until she gets better. A's mother said no that she will take care of the baby. J's name is on the birth certificate. Does he not have any rights for his child? Or does A's parents have all the rights because she is a minor regardless of our son being on the birth certificate?
We as J's parents are trying to stay out of it but do care very much of the safety of our grandchild.
We are located in Indiana.
