Hi,
My fiance was asked to pay $500 to reserve a date for a wedding hall in Massachusetts (this was on the phone). We had yet to receive the contract. We subsequently found a better place and told them to forget it.
When they asked for the $500 they didn't say that it was a non-refundable deposit, rather they said that it would "secure the date".
When I called today to call it off with them, the nice lady said that the it was indeed non-refundable, but that she would ask her boss anyway. If the boss says "no way", do we have a leg to stand on to get it back? (perhaps by having it reversed at the credit card company...)
Thanks for any help!
