Unpaid Wages

I'm trying to get some more information on what to do about collecting unpaid wages. The company i formally worked for owes me about five weeks of pay. I was not fired nor was i laid off, i stopped working for them due to the lack of pay. I've been in contact with the CFO for the last few weeks but i keep getting excuses. I'm in the process of filing a complaint with the Labor board, but is there anything else i can do in order to collect money owed quicker? Your feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

The company is based out of Rhode Island

I am in Colorado.

You're just as well off with the labor board, then.

Even though I just moved out here and previously lived and worked in Rhode Island when this issue occured?

Yes. There are states where I would tell you to go through small claims court instead but the DOL's in both Colorado and Rhode Island do their jobs. But if you did the hours in RI, then the CO DOL will not be able to help you. If you worked the hours in CO, they would be the ones to go to even if the company is based in RI. But if you worked in RI, then the RI DOL is the one to help you.
