unknown court sec. meaning on what i am to file

i went to file a court document myself. while there i told to them about filing indegent on my paper work. they said i would need to file something called along the lines of populs, popus, or populace. what is that and where do i get it. filing a legal maintenance separation

I'm thinking they told you that you need to file "in forma pauperis".
Go here and fill out the form, print it out (or vice versa).
