Unfair credit Collection

I defaulted on a loan and it was transferred to a collection agency. The collection agency contacted a third part that was not on the loan. They told the third party who they were and what type of debt they were collecting. They threatened to prevent me from graduating college and becoming a board certified nurse practitioner if the debt was not paid. They harrassed this third person multiple times. Each time they gave out all of my personal information regarding the debt. They even tried to collect money from the third party. I wrote a letter to them stating they had violated the Fair Credit collection act. They responded stating that their investigation did not reveal any violation. What do I do now? Is it time to hire an attorney to get this matter resolved? Please help.
