My 16 year old son just received a citation for underage drinking (no driving involved). Would like any words of experience of what he might expect from the Nevada legal system in fines or punishment. First offense, he confessed to the police (noise complaint broke up the party). Straight A kid that plays in 3 varsity sports, eagle scout - all the right things but he has made a mistake and he knows it. Punishment at home has been severe, School punishmenthas to sit out 2 football games (started both ways). In about 4 weeks he goes to court - what might he expect?

Thanks.

WOw. I'm sorry, I read the driving part wrong.

I don't know about Nevada precisely. It may affect his driver's license, even if he wasn't driving at the time. For the most part, he'll probably be told that it will be removed from his record, if he doesn't get in any trouble for the next year. The Judge may also want him to attend classes, like an AA victim impact panel. The Judge should also be told what punishment your son had already had, and it may be best if your son could say something briefly to the court about how sorry he is. . .

Issue resolved, attended a manditory meeting with juvenile probation, pled guilty, pled his story, no court, no fine, will have to talk to a psycologist. Breathing easier.
